How we foster cross-generational engagement

What’s the Transformation Dialogue Programme and why is it important?

For the first time in history, there are five different generations in the workplace (source), which means that being flexible and listening to each other is more important than ever.

Our understanding of how differently we all work is shaped by our experiences. Today, our active workforce is composed of four different generations – a wealth of diverse knowledge! At PwC, we’re enabling the dialogue between generations and have thus created a cross-generational programme where we pair up people from different backgrounds and with diverse mindsets with the goal to build mutual understanding and co-create future ways of working together.

Transformational Dialogue

Our programme to foster better understanding between generations

Thirty PwC employees explored generational differences in pairs of two around five aspects: generational background, striving for success, hybrid world, technology and transformation as well as future and sustainability. During the programme, both participants were guided to share their unfiltered perspectives and expectations and to confront and validate them with their counterpart in a fully inclusive and non-hierarchical set-up. The goals of the programme were to

  • close potential generation/seniority gaps,
  • be inspired by different perspectives,
  • build mutual understanding,
  • co-create future ways of working,
  • give juniors a career boost,
  • give a leadership boost.

In our closing event, the groups shared their experiences and the insights they gathered during their journey. Here’s a summary of their conclusions:
