Why did you decide to start your career in digital assurance?
The first time I heard of digital assurance was at a career fair where an employee of PwC approached me to ask if I knew the company. I had such a pleasant and interesting chat with them that I left the fair considering a career start in digital assurance at PwC. It felt like a perfect match for me, and my interests were well aligned with the job opportunity.
What does a typical working day look like?
Every day brings its own unique challenges and learning opportunities. My role focuses on IT audit engagements, which means I assess the reliability of the digital systems in operation for clients. Daily tasks include evaluating cybersecurity measures and analysing system accesses.
Ensuring accuracy and credibility of financial data is important in my role, so we can make informed decisions during the financial audit process. Each client is unique and has different needs, which is great because I get a glimpse into many businesses and the diverse approaches each client takes. This dynamic aspect of my role keeps it engaging and rewarding – every project involves working closely with clients and developing innovative solutions to their specific challenges.
Are there any trends in digital assurance that you are excited about?
The topic of digital transformation is very exciting because technology is rapidly evolving. As clients integrate digital technologies such as cloud solutions, automated processes, and AI, I get the chance to play a part in the transformation.
At PwC, we can enhance our skills and stay up to date with new technologies with tailored upskilling programmes. Excitingly, this year we introduced an e-learning course for employees on the fundamentals of AI and its potential to transform daily tasks and different industries.
What advice would you give someone considering a career in digital assurance?
I would recommend embracing this journey with an open mind. In the ever-evolving landscape of assurance and digital transformation, having a proactive attitude towards your learning and development is important. This approach not only allows you to extract the most value from the experience but also empowers you to make a meaningful impact at PwC.
