Tell us about your start in audit

My audit journey began in September 2023, and it was an exciting yet challenging start. With no prior audit experience, I spent the initial two weeks with other newcomers, taking part in audit trainings and getting to know everyone.

After the trainings, on my first day at the office I seamlessly transitioned into being booked on an engagement. And within a few weeks, I was an integral part of my team, gradually assuming more responsibility.

All in all, it was quite what I had expected: my daily work is filled with interesting tasks where I learn a lot in an inspiring work environment.

What are your key takeaways so far?

During my four months in audit, I have experienced an exponential learning curve when it comes to both technical and collaboration skills, having gathered much knowledge in a relatively short time. Getting the opportunity to deepen your knowledge on the job and learning from more experienced colleagues is very exciting and gratifying. I’m also working on my communications skills to achieve better results with my clients and colleagues.

What advice would you give someone looking to kick-start their career in Audit?

Being open to learning new things and seeking help when necessary is essential. The audit field is complex, and continuous learning needs to be a priority. So, my advice would be to approach the journey with an open mind, proactively shaping your learning and development and trying to pick up as much as possible from more experienced colleagues.
