Unifying complex, fragmented financial data into one model

A global financial services group client asked for our support in building a unified data model. Senior stakeholders in management consulting, technology, global finance, and change management at PwC Advisory stepped in. We set up teams at the client’s office, and worked together on vision labs and deep dives into the business requirements. The challenge was to create a single information model from highly complex, fragmented data models and different data elements and objects across the organization.

The objective was to reduce the amount of time people spent in reconciliations and on manual work through a simple, automated information model. In fact, this model was the first step, foundational and scalable, in a much broader transformation – building a new digital financial platform designed to completely change the way people work.

The financial services transformation team worked across disciplines and internationally: joining forces with Finance Transformation, Data Analytics, Actuary, Change Management and SAP capabilities, and leveraging the broader PwC network in the UK and Germany. This highly driven and knowledgeable community of solvers simplified and harmonized the financial data of the client’s organization, designing a Unified Data Model, that in the future, will serve as the foundation for digital transformation of Finance for the group. This could become the new standard in the broader financial landscape.
