Unfortunately, it is not. Regional governance is stepping up, and employees and
prospects, increasingly aware of inequities, are seeking out employers who provide equal pay. But how do they know if a company actually walks the talk? The Equal Salary label.
An entrepreneurial project started several years ago at PwC Switzerland, our Equal Salary programme rapidly grew, in partnership with EQUAL-SALARY Foundation and their benchmark label. Today we are a team of 20 at PwC Switzerland, with a network of more than 200 people worldwide.
Participation in our Equal Salary programme validates fairness and equity as an employer, addresses a social goal in terms of Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG) compliance, and can also help companies facing inequity to rebuild trust. Earning certification requires a commitment from top management and a rigorous 3-phase process. First, quantitative: meeting specific conditions following an equal pay analysis. Secondly, qualitative: gaining a 360° view on fair pay via talks with leadership, human resources, line managers, and employees. Finally, decisive: our recommendation to the independent EQUAL-SALARY Foundation, who decides whether or not to grant the certification.
