Data Transformation & Analytics, PwC Switzerland
How do you embark on your data transformation journey with an integrated approach avoiding individual un-coordinated efforts? We leverage our data strategy framework to enable the structured discovery of limitations in your data operations and derive a comprehensive perspective on developing your future data-driven company landscape.
Supply chain uncertainties, staff shortages and turbulent markets create a pressing need for business transformation – focusing on customer centricity, understanding your employees' wishes, and monitoring your firm’s operations become increasingly necessary to sustain future success. At the core of these challenges is the need to understand your business and your (market) environment more holistically by having high-quality insights available to the key people in a timely manner. As insights are a direct derivative of data, it is inevitable to build an integrated approach towards data handling in your company by utilizing strategic, tactical, and operational considerations. Our Data Transformation & Analytics team from PwC Switzerland enables its clients to tackle data and analytics in a holistic way through leveraging “One data strategy to rule them all” - its success-proven framework that provides a cross-industry and cross-functional perspective along five dimensions.
Scrutinizing the need for data transformations often reveals the one-dimensionality of the initial understanding, which neglects the co-dependencies between dimensions of data handling and data domains. To overcome specific challenges, such as low data quality, requires considerations along all five dimensions of the data strategy framework (e.g., Roles & Responsibilities or Data & Analytics Operating Model) as well as different data types (e.g., master data, transactional data). The data strategy framework that can be applied to those challenges translates into benefits such as:
The data strategy framework allows you to compile a holistic view of your current data operations and benchmark those against industry standards. Moreover, this perspective on your data handling maturity provides the foundation for the design of a future blueprint: deriving the target state based on current data capabilities, industry standards and the company’s specific data vision.
We successfully helped a global F&B company transform its finance data operations
The finance team of a global Food and Beverage (F&B) company faced challenges with global reporting due to multiple data storage systems. Every month end, the finance team’s analysts spent hours to map data from various source systems – SAP, internal databases, XLS files – which was very error prone and time consuming. We supported its client in defining its data strategy by creating a Single Point of Truth (SPOT) for financial data and report harmonization.
We provide an end-to-end support model along the data transformation journey. The variation in depth of the offered assessments outlined below is tailored to our clients and their individual needs. Upon the discovery of the need for a data transformation or the performance of a (reoccurring) data health check, we propose different data strategy assessment packages:
