Zurich, 12 January 2024 – PwC Switzerland announces the election of Gustav Baldinger as its new CEO from 1 July 2024. At the Partners' Conference, the firm’s partners elected Gustav Baldinger as Primus inter Pares with a two-thirds majority. Baldinger succeeds Andreas Staubli, who’s retiring after six years at the helm of PwC Switzerland.

Gustav Baldinger will take over as CEO on 1 July 2024 at the start of PwC’s 2024/2025 financial year. He’ll assume operational responsibility for PwC Switzerland, the leading audit and advisory firm in Switzerland, with revenue of over CHF 1.1 billion and with 3,864 employees and 14 locations in Switzerland, as well as one in the Principality of Liechtenstein.

Gustav Baldinger (1972) is a proven economist specialising in finance. He’s been with PwC Switzerland for 21 years and has shaped the firm in many areas. In 2018, he took on the role of Advisory Services Leader at PwC Switzerland and in this position is also a member of the Management Board as well as the PwC Europe Advisory Leadership Team and the Global Advisory Leadership Team.

Under his leadership, PwC Switzerland’s advisory business has been successfully expanded. In the past financial year, Baldinger and his department achieved the highest net revenue in the firm's history.

Gustav Baldinger commented on his election: “It’s a great honour for me to take on the role of CEO of PwC Switzerland on behalf of my fellow partners. Andreas Staubli is handing over the reins to a successful, high-performing firm. So I’m particularly pleased to help shape the challenging future together with highly motivated partners and employees. We’ll continue to solve important problems for our clients in the long term and strengthen trust in society. Through our combined efforts, I intend to expand our leading position in Switzerland”.

PwC Chairman of the Board of Directors, Sebastian di Paola, is delighted with Baldinger’s election: “We’re extremely pleased to have elected an experienced personality in Gustav Baldinger. With our proven election procedure, we ensure that the CEO enjoys broad support from the PwC partnership. Baldinger will also experience this from the Board of Directors and employees. He will bring inspiring impulses in his new role”.

Andreas Staubli is leaving the firm at his own request at the end of June 2024 in order to devote himself to his family and his non-professional interests. Sebastian di Paola thanks Staubli for his extraordinary commitment and commented: “Andreas Staubli did an outstanding job for PwC Switzerland and steered the firm successfully. I’d like to thank him personally for this, on behalf of the entire Board of Directors, all partners and employees of PwC”.
